The essentials

What is a commercial vehicle wrap?

A commercial vehicle wrap is a professionally designed and installed vinyl graphic applied to a business vehicle. It can cover nearly the entire painted surface, selected panels, or only key areas with logos and lettering, turning the vehicle into a consistent, mobile expression of the company’s brand.

A full wrap creates the most dramatic transformation by covering most visible painted panels. A partial wrap combines printed graphics with the vehicle’s original paint color. Spot graphics and lettering use logos, contact details, service lists, and identification numbers without changing the overall vehicle color.

The right choice depends on your branding, vehicle color, viewing distance, operational needs, and budget. We help clients choose coverage that makes their name and service easy to understand—not simply the option that uses the most vinyl.

Built for business visibility

Why Boston businesses use commercial vehicle wraps

A wrapped vehicle works wherever the business works—on a service call, in traffic, at a delivery, or parked at a jobsite. Unlike a temporary campaign, the branding travels with the vehicle and helps customers connect the vehicle with the company performing the work.

01

Local brand visibility

A clear logo, service message, website, and phone number help people recognize the business across the communities it already serves.

02

Consistent fleet appearance

Shared colors, layouts, and logo placement make different vehicle models feel like one organized, recognizable fleet.

03

Professional credibility

Well-designed, carefully installed graphics help a service vehicle look established and ready to represent the company at customer locations.

04

Mobile and parked exposure

The message can be seen while the vehicle is moving, making deliveries, working curbside, or parked at the company facility.

05

Flexible messaging

Designs can prioritize a brand name, service category, web address, phone number, licensing details, or fleet identification.

06

Added surface barrier

Vinyl adds a removable layer over suitable factory paint, but it cannot repair damage and does not make a vehicle immune to chips, corrosion, or wear.

From one truck to a mixed fleet

Commercial vehicles EGI Wraps can wrap

Vehicle advertising is not limited to one body style. Our design and production approach can be adapted to the contours, doors, windows, hardware, and viewing angles of many commercial vehicles.

  • Cargo and service vans: ideal for trades, delivery, maintenance, cleaning, technology, and mobile services.
  • Pickup trucks: full wraps, partial wraps, bed graphics, logos, and lettering for field teams and contractors.
  • Box trucks: large side and rear surfaces suited to bold, easy-to-read brand messages.
  • Food trucks: branded exteriors designed around serving windows, doors, hardware, and menu visibility.
  • Trailers: enclosed cargo, equipment, event, and mobile-service trailers.
  • Shuttle buses and buses: brand graphics planned around windows, seams, emergency exits, and access panels.
  • Fleet vehicles: repeatable branding across vans, SUVs, pickups, trucks, and trailers.

Choose the right coverage

Full wrap vs. partial wrap vs. vehicle lettering

No single coverage option is right for every business. A white van may integrate naturally into a partial design, while a vehicle in a color that conflicts with the brand may benefit from more coverage. The comparison below is a practical starting point.

OptionCoverageVisual impactIdeal useFlexibilityTime / budget level
Full wrapMost visible painted body panels; roof may be included or excludedHighest transformationMajor rebrand, color change, bold fleet identityMaximum creative controlTypically highest
Partial wrapSelected sides, rear, hood, or strategic sectionsStrong when integrated with paint colorFocused branding with controlled coverageHigh, but depends on base colorTypically mid-range
Spot graphicsIndividual printed logos and graphic elementsClean and targetedSimple branding or adding services and contact detailsModerateTypically lower
Cut letteringText, logos, numbers, and basic shapesDirect and functionalCompany identification, DOT information, unit numbersBest for simpler artworkTypically lowest

What affects the quote? Vehicle size and model, coverage, design complexity, material choice, surface condition, number of vehicles, existing graphic removal, and adhesive cleanup can all affect the final price and schedule. Photos and vehicle details allow us to provide a more accurate recommendation.

A controlled professional workflow

EGI Wraps’ commercial vehicle wrap process

  1. Consultation and evaluationWe review the vehicle year, make, model, condition, use, desired coverage, quantity, and project timing.
  2. Measurements and design preparationWe plan artwork for the specific vehicle. A vector logo is preferred because it remains crisp at large sizes.
  3. Proofing and approvalYou review placement, wording, colors, and coverage before production. Production begins from approved artwork.
  4. Printing and laminationApproved graphics are printed on premium commercial wrap film and protected with a UV-protective laminate.
  5. Vehicle preparationThe vehicle is inspected and cleaned. Wax, grease, contamination, and unsuitable surfaces can interfere with adhesion.
  6. Professional installationGraphics are aligned panel by panel, applied around contours, trimmed carefully, and post-heated where required.
  7. Final inspectionWe check edges, seams, alignment, hardware areas, and overall presentation before the vehicle leaves.
  8. AftercareWe explain washing and care practices that help the wrap maintain its appearance.

Existing decals, wraps, or adhesive may need separate removal and evaluation. Removal is not automatically included, and fragile, repaired, rusted, or poorly bonded paint can present additional risk.

Material quality matters, but preparation, alignment, finishing, and the installation environment are equally important.

Quality beneath the appearance

Materials and installation quality

For printed commercial wraps, EGI Wraps uses premium 3M IJ180 printable wrap vinyl with UV-protective laminate. The film provides the printable surface and conformability needed for vehicle applications; the laminate helps protect the print from UV exposure and routine environmental wear.

A premium film cannot compensate for poor preparation or installation. Durable, clean-looking work depends on evaluating the substrate, removing contamination, aligning graphics across doors and body panels, finishing edges carefully, and applying appropriate post-heat.

Our climate-controlled Chelmsford facility has three installation bays and 14-foot doors. A controlled environment supports cleaner preparation and consistent application without relying on changing outdoor conditions.

Protect the investment

How long do commercial vehicle wraps last?

There is no single lifespan that applies to every wrap. Longevity depends on film and laminate, installation, sun and weather exposure, vehicle use, parking, washing methods, paint condition, and the angle of each panel. Horizontal areas such as roofs and hoods generally receive more direct exposure than vertical sides.

EGI Wraps provides a three-year printed-wrap warranty. This warranty should not be interpreted as an unlimited service life or as coverage for damage caused by accidents, neglect, harsh chemicals, failing paint, or other conditions outside normal use.

Practical wrap care

  • Hand wash with a mild automotive detergent and soft cloth or sponge.
  • Rinse dirt and road salt before rubbing the surface.
  • Clean fuel spills, bird droppings, and other contaminants promptly.
  • Avoid abrasive brushes, harsh solvents, and scraping tools.
  • Use caution with pressure washers, especially near edges and seams.
  • Park under cover when practical and address lifting or damage early.

Consistency at scale

Commercial fleet wraps for Boston-area businesses

Fleet branding is more than repeating one layout. Different vehicles have different proportions, body lines, handles, windows, and service functions. A successful program preserves the brand hierarchy while adjusting the artwork intelligently for each model.

Repeatable visual standards help every vehicle read as part of the same fleet.

Design standards

Templates define logo size, colors, typography, service messaging, and preferred placement while allowing model-specific adjustments.

Production control

Approved artwork, documented specifications, and color-aware production help keep additions aligned with the established fleet.

Operational planning

Unit numbering, phased installations, vehicle availability, and future acquisitions can be planned around business operations.

Questions worth asking

How to choose a commercial wrap company

A professional portfolio matters, but it is only one part of the decision. Ask how the company approaches the vehicle, artwork, materials, production, installation, and long-term support.

  • Certification and insurance: verify relevant credentials and active coverage.
  • Portfolio quality: inspect alignment, readability, seams, edges, and consistency.
  • Material specifications: ask for the exact printable film and laminate.
  • Design experience: confirm the design is adapted for vehicle contours and viewing distance.
  • Installation environment: understand where and under what conditions the work is performed.
  • Warranty details: request written coverage and exclusions.
  • Surface evaluation: disclose rust, dents, repairs, peeling paint, and previous graphics.
  • Proof approval: make sure you can review wording, placement, and coverage before printing.
  • Removal plan: clarify whether old graphics and adhesive cleanup are included.
  • Fleet capability: ask how future vehicles and mixed models will remain consistent.

Commercial vehicle wrap FAQs

How much does a commercial vehicle wrap cost in Boston?

Pricing depends on vehicle size and model, coverage, design complexity, materials, surface condition, quantity, and whether old graphics require removal. Send vehicle photos, year, make, model, and desired coverage for an accurate quote.

How long does it take to wrap a commercial vehicle?

The timeline includes design, proof approval, production, vehicle preparation, and installation. Actual timing varies with vehicle size, coverage, condition, project quantity, and the current production schedule. We confirm timing after reviewing the project.

How long will a commercial vehicle wrap last?

Wrap life varies with sun and weather exposure, film and laminate, installation, washing, parking, vehicle use, paint condition, and panel angle. EGI Wraps provides a three-year printed-wrap warranty, but actual service life depends on care and operating conditions.

Can a wrap be installed over scratches, dents, rust, or peeling paint?

Vinyl follows the surface beneath it and will not hide dents, deep scratches, rust, or failing paint. Rust and peeling or poorly bonded paint can prevent reliable adhesion and may worsen during removal. The vehicle should be evaluated before production.

Will a vehicle wrap damage factory paint?

Quality vehicle film installed over sound factory paint is designed to be removable. However, repainted, repaired, rusted, peeling, or poorly bonded surfaces can be damaged during installation or removal. Existing condition must be evaluated first.

Can you wrap leased commercial vehicles?

Often, yes, but the lease agreement controls what modifications are allowed. Obtain the leasing company’s approval, confirm removal requirements, and document the vehicle’s paint condition before installation.

What is the difference between a full wrap and a partial wrap?

A full wrap covers most visible painted panels and can dramatically transform the vehicle. A partial wrap covers selected areas and uses the original paint color as part of the design. Both can be effective when planned for the brand and vehicle.

Can EGI Wraps match our company colors?

We can work from established brand colors and supplied design standards. Printed color can vary by material, ink, lighting, and the reference source, so critical colors should be discussed during proofing and may require a printed sample.

Do we need to provide a vector logo?

A vector logo is strongly preferred because it can be enlarged without losing sharpness. Common vector formats include AI, EPS, and certain PDF or SVG files. If only a low-resolution image exists, artwork preparation may be required.

Can EGI Wraps wrap an entire fleet?

Yes. We can develop repeatable standards across vans, pickups, trucks, trailers, and other fleet vehicles. Planning can include model-specific templates, unit numbers, phased installations, and consistent treatment for future additions.

How should a wrapped vehicle be washed?

Hand washing with mild automotive detergent, clean water, and a soft cloth or sponge is preferred. Avoid abrasive brushes, harsh solvents, scraping, and concentrated pressure near edges and seams. Remove fuel spills and contaminants promptly.

Can old decals or wraps be removed?

Yes, in many cases. Removal time and paint risk depend on graphic age, material, adhesive, exposure, and the condition of the underlying paint. Removal and adhesive cleanup require a separate evaluation and may involve an additional charge.

Does EGI Wraps serve businesses outside Boston?

Yes. EGI Wraps is based in Chelmsford and serves Greater Boston, Eastern Massachusetts, and Southern New Hampshire. Availability, travel needs, vehicle delivery, and installation logistics should be confirmed for each project.

What materials are used for printed commercial wraps?

EGI Wraps uses premium 3M IJ180 printable wrap vinyl with UV-protective laminate for printed commercial vehicle wraps. The exact material plan can depend on the vehicle, surface, coverage, and application.

Can the roof be excluded from a full commercial wrap?

Yes. Many commercial wrap scopes can exclude the roof, especially when it is not normally visible. The quote and approved proof should clearly identify which panels are included so coverage expectations are precise.
